“The content of your character is your choice. Day by day what you choose, what you think and what you do is who you become.”
-- Heraclitus
Simple, everyday choices often have the greatest impact on our lives. Our bodies weaken if we make poor food choices, but they strengthen and thrive with small, daily choices to eat well and stay active.
Positive choices most often yield positive results.
Our character is shaped much the same way. Small, daily choices grow and strengthen the content of our character.
Honesty, responsibility, kindness, courage, fairness, wisdom are the qualities of a healthy, well-developed character. These form the ‘content of character’ that nurtures true happiness and well-being. These are the positive qualities that, when used to influence and inform even simple, everyday decisions, can have a profoundly positive effect on our own lives and the lives of those around us.
Like the body, character is strengthened by the choices we make: small, daily decisions to think, speak, and act in a way that reflects the best of who you are now and shapes the best possible version of who you will become.
